We are pleased to have the
opportunity to give those of you considering
either a new construction or remodeling
project an idea of what we do during the
construction process.
Each month we will be
posting a new ‘Project of the Month,’ which
we hope will give you an idea of the
different processes during the making of
someone’s house into a home they will enjoy
for years to come.
Our latest Project of the
Month comes to you with the permission of
Paul and Stephanie
of West Knoxville.
There were a lot of helping
hands in this project but the real credit
goes to the homeowner Stephanie, who created
her own backsplash design with the help of
Sonoma
Tilemakers on-line idea photo gallery.
Assisting with the project was Exact Tiles
showroom manager Jennifer Kurtz. Design and
selections were finalized by Kari Openshaw
Interiors.
The porcelain tile was ordered and purchased
through Exact Tile with the help of
Haskell Interiors of Cleveland, Tennessee
and manufactured by Sonoma Tile Makers.
Starting from the granite countertop up we
used Reserve Mosuprema Burlap 1x1's,
followed by Tantrum Harmony in Tweed 2x8's.
These were used throughout the entire linear
footage of the splash. Next was the field
tile which is Carved Design REserved
Coventry 6x6 also in the color of Burlap.
Materials used from the inside out for the
dramatic center piece over the range include
a 20-3/4x12 Center Reserve Cumbria in the
Estate Metals Silver Nickle finish. Around
the
center piece is Tweed Tantrum Mosuprema 1x1
followed by Silver Nickle finished Domaine
Metal Bel Air 3/4x6 and finished with Burlap
Reserve Caspian 2-1/4x8. Grout and caulk is
TEC #945 Light Buff. All tile and grout was
sealed with Gundlach Spray Sealer.
In any project that includes the use of
custom handmade materials such as this, it
is vital to be as accurate as possible on
measurements since there is a longer lead
time in getting them in. At Exact Tile our estimator
for such projects is company owner Zac Redmond who has over a decade of experience
in this field.
The installation of Paul and Stephanies
custom backsplash project required great
care and patience by Mike P. Because of his
efforts Mike is our Installer of the Month.
